About:

Pared back, classic and versatile. Our stone tile inlay plinths are designed to offer organic texture and variation to your space.

Uniquely handcrafted using a natural stone tile inlay method of traditional furniture making. Please read the product details carefully prior to purchasing.

This is a unique craft and we encourage you to learn more about the beautiful journey behind its origins. It is one that we are very proud of and hold very close to our hearts.

Details:

  • Handcrafted using a unique craft traditional to the Philippine Islands.
  • Hand quarried fossilised limestone which is hand carved in to smooth and rough tiles.
  • Aligned on a hollow timber carcass which provides a stable form to create the sculptural design.
  • Adjustable feet allow for alignment on uneven surfaces. This design has a 50mm shadow line at the base to create a lifting/floating appearance.
  • Surface tiles are polished and sealed to protect against moisture and stains. Care will still need to be taken to ensure you get longevity from your piece.

Variation:

Grey Stone embodies a maze of varied grey and charcoal hues with accents of brown and earth tones. Each tile holds a completely unique set of characteristics. Please use the images as a guide and allow for variation.

Natural stone comes with its own unique variation and organic flaws. This includes colour and textural variation and should be expected.

Slight imperfections are a part of the handmade process using this natural material, this is what makes each piece unique and should be expected.

Care
Moving

When moving, do not push or drag along ground as this may cause the stone to chip and break off. Always use two people to lift and place your piece down gently in place. If dropped, this may result in stone cracking, chipping or breaking.

Although grey stone is a hard material, it is also fragile and heavy. Care should always be taken when moving and if you feel strained please do not attempt to move alone. The weight should always be evenly distributed when moving the piece.

Caring

Avoid contact with substances that contain an acidic component (such as citric foods/drinks or some sticky tapes) as they may cause etching. Avoid direct contact with high pigment liquids, foods and objects that may cause colour transfer.

The polished flat stone surface is sealed and polished, which means that it is protected against dirt, liquids and stains however this is not fool proof and care should still be taken. Once stained, this may not be possible to remove. We recommend always using coasters or a mat to protect from any products containing liquid.

Please be mindful when placing heavy objects as our pieces have not been designed to hold large amounts of weight.

Do not sit or stand on your piece.

It is not recommended for outside use.

A connection to our community and profound respect for tradition.

We are making history. We are proudly paying homage and respect to the art of Fossil Stonecraft Furniture as a Filipino created craftsmanship.

For many years, the art of Fossil Stone Furniture was sold throughout the world without the transparency of its origin.

Our community, culture and artisans were pushed into the shadows.

These are the hands, faces and families of our people.

Our community of highly skilled artisans.
